Medtronic received FDA approval for its Enlite sensor for use with the firm’s iPro2 professional continuous glucose monitoring system. Previously available with the MiniMed 530G insulin pump, the Enlite sensor can be worn continuously on the body for up to six days, even while showering.

The device connects via the MiniLink transmitter that sends readings wirelessly to a receiving device. It comes with a special inserter that is used to place the device on the body with minimal discomfort.

Using the Enlite sensor along with the iPro2 continuous glucometer can provide physicians a detailed, high resolution view on patients’ sugar levels and help decide on optimal treatment.
